Entire crowd cheered.
What a clown show. None of this matters.
Then why are they even debating? What a bunch of dumbasses
Trump is not in good health. Nowhere near as bad as Biden, but the stress of the trials hasn’t even begun yet. One of those folks is the red team’s Gavin Newsom.
Except the selection process in this case may well be: who can position themselves as the best successor to Donald Trump in the eyes of his base. Vivek clearly thinks so, which is why he was working so hard to be the Trumpiest dude on stage while also lavishing praise on the king.
Haley, Pence, and Christie are running for leadership of a party that doesn’t exist anymore, and I’m not sure why they bothered (though I’m glad they did). DeSantis did what he always does on the public stage: looked pathetic. Glancing around to see if it was safe to raise his hand was the most DeSantis thing he’s ever done. And if we’re honest, the other two guys barely exist.
So Vivek knows that he has a target audience, and he knows what they want to see: unfettered love and loyalty. Using the word ‘truth’ to say unpopular things they believe back to them, that they are mad about being unpopular.
I have no idea what he thinks his next steps are, because giving your opponents lines like “Donald Trump is the greatest president of the 21st-century“ and “climate change is a hoax“ to loop in swing state general election ads is a massive unforced error. But I think everyone else there was trying to find answers that could reach some independent voters as well as the party base, and he was only interested in the party audience…and getting the attention of Donald Trump.
Joe Biden looks like a mummy they found in the Arctic. If the republican party was in danger of picking a candidate who can appeal to the voters they lost over the last six years, this election would be a layup. But right now it looks likely that they are, as of yet, incapable of that.
