I finally saw The Flash last night because it's now streaming on Max.

It was ok. Some funny parts. I didn't mind The Back to the Future talk and stuff. I liked all the Batmans, Supermans, etc. too. Still don't understand how/why Zod came back....

Everything happens at a different timeline where Zod is appearing for the first time. Not sure if you really got the movie at all.

The Hero

Very good roles by Sam Elliott and Laura Prepon, but the script lets them down. The movie starts off strong, but can’t keep up the magic.

Promise at Dawn

True story about an incredible life. Played as a dramatic comedy, it has some iconic scenes (both comedic and dramatic). Leaves out the period where he actually was famious, and felt a bit long.

The Nile Hilton Incident (also known as Cairo Confidential)

Thought this was a really good cop movie about a murder, starring Fares Fares. Takes place in Cairo, and both the setting and the cast fits perfectly.

Ghost In The Shell

About to watch this one. Afterwards, I’ve got 60 movies left from 2017. Only ten rewatches, and 50 movies I haven’t seen before.

Ticked off the first Mission Impossible movie last night.

A very entertaining, albeit ridiculous, film. A testament to its pacing, it felt engaging throughout. There was little-to-no downtime in this thing!

The opening sequence in Prague was sublime. The rest of the film failed to meet these highs, but that's okay. As was typical of the time, I got a kick out of the way the script approached cyber security, and tech in general. Just throw a bunch of vaguely convincing terms out there and hope the audience will nod along. "Mainframe" is an absolute doozie. And the CIA employee in charge of guarding the NOC list had a double digital key-card. That's how you know it's serious.

Also, the helicopter clipped the side of the tunnel with its rotor blades no less than three times without going down. That's fucking absurd. I love it.

Tom Cruise is basically untouchable here, and I can't wait to continue on (although I understand MI2 is widely considered to be the weakest of the lot).

Girls Trip

This was not really funny at all, and then it turned serious about cheating. They should have stuck to a more Hangover type movie.

Before I Fall

Enjoyed this Groundhog Day-like movie, which had a very good setting and mood, but sufferred a little from being less direct and funny than Happy Death Day from the same year. Terrible ending though.

Going in Style

Nice seeing Michael Caine, Alan Arkin and Morgan Freeman in this (and even Matt Dillon). But a rather mediocre script, leaves a movie with some smiles and a few chuckles.

The Current War

Going to finish off the evening with this movie about Thomsd Edison and George Westinghouse with Benedict Cumberbatch and Michael Shannon.

Edit: Michael Shannon was excellent, but it was if the director was drunk. Too boring and weirdly shot, for such an incredible true story.

The Insult

After an emotional exchange between a Lebanese Christian and a Palestinian refugee escalates, the men end up in a court case that gets national attention.

Look forward to this one.

Glad I’m watching this alone.
