Re: What movies are you watching?
Had a really intense ending. Not the best film I’ve seen, but it was interesting. Will be interesting to see it again sometime in the future, knowing what to expect.

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

A bit disappointed with this so far. Need a top class final hour.

Ratatouille. I’m about 8 movies behind, but this is top 3 Pixar for me.

Megan Leavey was decent. There’s probably a limit to how good a movie about this topic could be, but it’s well acted and is an interesting true story.

120 BPM
Very interesting movie about the anti-AIDS movement in France in the early 90s. Biggest negative is that it is really long, and there are a lot of meetings.
« In the early 1990s, with AIDS having already claimed countless lives for nearly 10 years, ACT UP Paris activists multiply actions to fight general indifference. Nathan, a newcomer to the group, has his world shaken up by Sean, a radical militant, who throws his last bits of strength into the struggle.»
Also saw the Hungarian movie On Body and Soul. Great acting, vibrant colors, odd story. Can recommend it.

I am encouraged by Trag's gushing over Oppenheimer.
Definitely see Interstellar, though.

Re: What movies are you watching?
Plan on finishing the foreign language movies from 2017 over the next couple of days. Have got Loveless (Russia), Bad Genius (Thailand), Summer 1993 (Spain) and A Fantastic Woman (Chile) left to see. Still got quite a few English language titles to go (31 I've never seen, and 8 rewatches).

Re: What movies are you watching?
I had to watch Hereditary again and gosh, I just don't like it even a little bit. It's really stupid and boring and not scary at all, just miserable.

Not even a little bit scary? It sounds fucking brutal.

I'm going to see it (Hereditary) for the 2018 runthrough, so probably sometime in October-November

It's quite highly rated on various sites (RT, Metacritic, Letterboxd, IMDB). https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/hereditary 90% critics score/tomatometer on RT
