One of those books I have started like five times and never got past page 50 or so. Seems good but it doesn’t grab me.lennytheweedwhacker wrote:Midnight's Children - Salman Rushdie

Re: What are you currently reading?
I read the first 75ish pages around a year ago, but went through my phases where I couldn't focus on anything. I was enjoying it so looking forward to reading 125 pages and hitting the phase again.bart wrote:One of those books I have started like five times and never got past page 50 or so. Pre-ordered this six months ago and they mailed it to my old address, so I had to pay another $53 dollars to buy it again.

Re: What are you currently reading?
Finished The Guest by Emma Cline the other day. Fucking loved it. Thought it was just gonna be a typical chick-lit, beach read -- and it is? -- but it also so much more. I was surprised how much it bent literary. The ending is fascinating. I keep thinking about it.
Now I'm reading The Glow by Jessie Gaynor. It's her first novel. She's a former client of my wife's. So far, I'm digging it but I'm barely in. Has some serious Chuck Palahniuk vibes. But, you know. female.

Lady friend just picked up his new one at the store this morning. I read and own Fight Club but just never looked to anything else.epilogue wrote:Finished The Guest by Emma Cline the other day. Are you interested at all in reading more of his stuff? I'd be happy to recommend some. I love his work in general. Some of them are misses, to be sure, but in general the dude gets it.oasisfan35 wrote:Lady friend just picked up his new one at the store this morning. New Lauren Groff, The Vaster Wilds.
Got the book at a reading event this past Tuesday. It was Lauren in conversation with Miranda July. Lauren read some, answered questions, and sighed books.
She's one of my favs, so super pumped to be back in her head.

It was a really cool little book launch event. In a church no less!
Both of those women are icons to me. One of those nights that reminds me why I continue to live in this stupid awful terrible amazing marvelous city.
