This is a well-liked song by a lot of posters who's musical opinions I really respect, so every once in a while I really try to see what makes this so special to them. It hasn't hit yet, but I keep trying.

That's the thing; I'm not really sure. I put it on yesterday in light of the recent talk about the song, and there's some cool stuff going on with the bass and droning guitars in the verses while the rest is competently performed. It functions very well as a minor song in my estimation, but I feel like someone like Ruddo or WCT see it as more interesting than that, and I wish I could dig it in the same way.

It has a consistent groove that persists along despite the shifting time signatures underneath, which is something that Soundgarden used to do a lot. That alone is interesting enough. Then you've got a bass line that serves as a lead instrument in the verses in spite of the droning guitars, cool stoner-guitar riffs in the chorus, handclaps that effectively mirror the snare drum and provoke ass-shaking, and lyrics about smoking pot. Good enough for me.

And Ed with a quiet subdued snarled upper lip punk rock delivery that suits the song perfectly

Love this song. Cool bassline and I love some of that atmospheric stuff happening with the guitars.
