I like it. It's kind of Matrix-ish. It still sounds dark.

While a Western guitar motif lost on the swings drum bass fusion, get your own thoughts into the subconscious often forgotten. "Pendulum" is a sweeping soul from the ballast.

Some close-up bow action in there.

Re: Pendulum
I've mentioned this elsewhere but not only is Pendulum just a great song by itself, but it does a master job at connecting Infallible to Swallowed Whole and thus side a to side b. This album's Of the Girl.

Re: Pendulum
yeah, or it might have something to do with compressors. i'm fairly sure that the effect is present throughout the song (maybe not in the "ah-uh-uh-uh-aah" bit) and when Eddie sang "easy left me a long time AGOOOO" the effect meters went into the red, creating an analog distortion that made some high vocal harmonics ring more than the lower ones. maybe it was a happy mistake or carefully applied afterwards, idk.harmless wrote:Isn't it just reverb used to the extreme?

I like the way that effect makes the vocal almost sound like it turns into the electric guitar line that immediately follows it.

Re: Pendulum
yeah that's cool. I'm a big fan of everything in this song. The 'uh uh uh' part took some getting used to, but I like the way everything mixes at the end. It's much less distracting, and even a net positive, in a way that the same part in the fixer was not.

Yes! That's the best part. Pink Floyd does this in the song Sheep, and it's equally awesome.digster wrote:I like the way that effect makes the vocal almost sound like it turns into the electric guitar line that immediately follows it.

Re: Pendulum
If there is a movie with 'Pendulum' in its OST, it deserves to be played in full from start to finish.
It will not take away from the movie but will enhance it instead.
Any GITS fans around here? A full song was played at some point with random Tokyo city views changing on the screen. It was beautiful.

It sounds like normal old compression distortion to me. Like, maybe they copy-pasted the vocal so it was on two tracks, and one they fed echo into and the other they compressed to the point of distorting.

The "ah-ah ah ah ah ah" bit gives me proper chills.

I like how the hard stops at the end of (some?) of them make it sound like extra percussion. The closest we'll get to eddie beatboxing lol.

Yeah, definitely, they add to the percussion when it picks up.

Re: Pendulum
One day I will like this song as much as you guys do.
(I don't dislike it, I'm just not quite "there" yet.)
