A great documentary about a Japanese guitarist who devoted his life to obsessively emulating Jimmy Page. It's fascinating as a character study and also just a lot of fun watching him recreate specific Led Zeppelin live performances down to every minute detail.

Interstellar. I know this type movie needs a lot, but the exposition was a little much at times. As was the typical Nolan use of score in every scene. But this is a very good movie. Beautiful look at, and whether you can buy MM as a space pilot or not, the emotional heft he brings has never been better. I can't say I understand a lot of the science in the last 30 minutes, but it is a satisfying conclusion.

The Villainess -- cool Korean action movie, lots of drama, great action scenes
Lowlife -- very absurd, extremely violent black comedy. The name "Tarantino" gets thrown around as a comparison but that's not quite right. Really funny

Ranked:
God’s Own Country (just brilliant. Feels real, both in story and characters, and like true love).

First Reformed (very interesting story. Think I have too see it again soon, maybe this week).

Lowlife (this surprised me. It had a bit of a b-movie/indie movie feel. But it just kept getting better, and when it was finished I had had a brilliant time watching it).

Lucky (Harry Dean Stanton and the script works together to create magic here. Should probably be higher on the list).

You Were Never Really Here (Joaquin Phoenix with another wonderful performance, in this relatively short movie that takes its time).

The Villainess (both the best scenes and the best sequences in this were really good, in both action and romance/humor/life. Overall story is a bit much, and prevents the movie from being higher on the list)

Detroit (want to see this again, but left feeling that this had the potential to be great, but was just good)

Ingrid Goes West (the beginning of this was excellent. Too bad the final half an hour was by far the weakest in the movie).

Papillon (action filled true story, good leads, not quite as good as the original)

Jungle (almost feel guilty for ranking this low, feel like I could rank it higher on a rewatch. But I did think it was a somewhat flawed movie, for an interesting true story)

The Glass Castle (it’s ok, but there are similar better movies out there)

Disobedience (had some good acting, and some interesting scenes, but the overall story and execution of it, left the magic out)

Thoroughbreds (strange story, and I don’t think the leads worked well in their roles)

All The Money In The World (fine, but Plummer felt too old for the role. It had some moments, but overall a bit boring)

What Happened To Monday (while it’s from a Norwegian director, and Noomi Rapace tries her best, I really didn’t enjoy this convoluted story, and boring production)

Watching It (2017) for the first time. Looks amazing, and the first twenty minutes have been solid.

That was an excellently made movie, and Bill Skarsgård did a wonderful Pennywise.

Liked the mood of the movie, but felt they could have leaned even closer into it. The parents were like empty mean vessels, which was not a strength.

Kept thinking of the first season or two of Stranger Things.

All in all, very pleased with this movie.

Finally watching John Wick 2. Even I’m surprised I’ve never seen it before. Owned it since it was first released on blu-ray, even planned on watching it a couple of times.

Nothing surprising about the first 40 minutes, feels just like John Wick. No complaints though.

Have also seen Gifted. A nice «Good Will Hunting» like story about a young wonderkid, and her uncle (Chris Evans) that is raising her. There’s a custody battle and a fairly interesting story.

Finally watching John Wick 2. Even I’m surprised I’ve never seen it before. Owned it since it was first released on blu-ray, even planned on watching it a couple of times.

Nothing surprising about the first 40 minutes, feels just like John Wick. No complaints though.

Yes, it was fine. A bit overrated perhaps. Very straightforward action throughout. Guy survives all sorts of action the way James Bond does.
