What's your mosquito situation? (And talk about other bugs)
We had a few late frosts this spring, so there weren't a lot of mosquitos for most of the summer, but in the last few weeks they've returned with a vengeance.

I also had a drain fly problem in my basement this summer, but that is under control now thanks to a few bottles of bleach.

I have never seen a bug in my entire life. Pretty sure they don't actually exist. They look like something out of a Star War.

pro (and my) tip: pour a cup of baking soda and a cup of vinegar down the drain, cover it with a rag (so it doesn't smell the whole kitchen up), and let it sit for 15 minutes. then pour boiling water down the drain. do this once a month. it eliminates odors and, most importantly, kills fruit fly eggs (they like to lay their eggs in the drain). once a week, pour boiling water down the drain to kill any eggs between applications.doug rr wrote:had a bad fruit fly problem in the summer..mostly around the sink

I tried this and it worked ok. The bleach worked betterChris_H_2 wrote:pro (and my) tip: pour a cup of baking soda and a cup of vinegar down the drain, cover it with a rag (so it doesn't smell the whole kitchen up), and let it sit for 15 minutes. then pour boiling water down the drain. do this once a month. it eliminates odors and, most importantly, kills fruit fly eggs (they like to lay their eggs in the drain). once a week, pour boiling water down the drain to kill any eggs between applications.doug rr wrote:had a bad fruit fly problem in the summer..mostly around the sink

we tried a few variations of this..it was ok at best..had a guy come to spray and he mentioned our neighbors fruit trees, pears, plums, etc laying on the ground is a problem too..we also always keep the back door open for the dog...now that its colder it has seemed to stopChris_H_2 wrote:pro (and my) tip: pour a cup of baking soda and a cup of vinegar down the drain, cover it with a rag (so it doesn't smell the whole kitchen up), and let it sit for 15 minutes. then pour boiling water down the drain. do this once a month. it eliminates odors and, most importantly, kills fruit fly eggs (they like to lay their eggs in the drain). once a week, pour boiling water down the drain to kill any eggs between applications.doug rr wrote:had a bad fruit fly problem in the summer..mostly around the sink

We get our lakehouse yard treated for mozzies on the reg, but once it gets dark, it doesn’t matter. The yard having water on three sides, there’s not much you can do.
We’re also in the midst of our annual house fly problem. They’re a certain kind that are dumb and slow af, so I just swat like forty of them when we arrive and that takes care of it.
