- The Blazers chose the best deal to gracefully transition to rebuilding without making irrelevant for multiple years
- ends all the trade speculation before the season so we can focus on actual basketball

I agreed with you a couple years ago that Giannis staying with the Bucks was good for the NBA, I’m not sold that them making another big trade to placate their franchise star is anything for the league, good or bad. Good move by the team but this isn’t the same as him resigning in 2020.

I mean it’s not like the Lakers or Knicks we’re trying to trade for him so idk how relevant the market size is, but if you want that one, I guess.

Really it breaks the recent precedent, but will probably be more of a one-off like Kawhi to the Raptors was than anything real pushing back against the player empowerment stuff. So Dame didn’t get what he wants, hooray! He sure seemed like the obnoxious selfish guy that deserved to get sent somewhere he didn’t want to go…

I strongly disagree that this was Portland’s best offer. It sure seems like they decided they simply weren’t trading him to Miami because a) they didn’t want to send Dame where he wanted, b) they didn’t want Miami to get him because they didn’t like how talks went with them, or c) the league pressured them not to trade him to Miami for the reasons you mentioned. We’ll see what they get for Jrue, maybe it’ll end up that this was their best deal but it sure doesn’t seem like it.

Seems like good day for Bucks. Bad day for Blazers. Awful day for Heat. I don’t see some win for the little guy or the league in this.

- It keeps a team in a small market relevant for longer. That's a good thing for us midwesterners looking for good basketball.
- I don't know. The leaguewide memos and fines for players like Harden wanting out seem like a clear message from the league that they've lost patience with this type of behavior. That combined with the much harsher penalties for teams deep in the tax will likely lead to fewer superteams.
- We will probably never know if it was the best offer, but I don't think Dame had as much value as you think. He's older and has a huge contact. Not many teams were willing to take that on (or had the pieces to reasonably make it happen). Plus, the Blazers got to ditch Nurkic. That is huge for them.
- I don't expect you to like this, to be honest. I look forward to watching Giannis and Dame play together. They pair very nicely together.

Ayton would have been there in either offer. Herro plus two or possibly three firsts plus two swaps. Unless they have a time machine for Holiday I don’t think he’s going to get more than an additional first than Herro would get them.
