The local radio guys have made a pretty convincing case for these guys stealing signs at home.

The splits are ridiculous.

Duran becoming Rickey Henderson out of nowhere has been quite the development.

Him being a doubles machine is a nice surprise, but his defense growing into a non-embarrassment is just as important.

His defense was why I absolutely hated him, so yeah.

Are we going to be buyers or sellers or a little of both this year?

I would be a seller, but I think they will just do nothing.

I think they will do a little bit of both like last year. And, act like they are still in it.

It’s tough because I don’t think the pieces they would sell would net them anything of value, nor would they be able to buy much with pieces they have to offer. AAA is incredibly thin right now, so if you sell MLB pieces, you are going to fill the team with Joe Nobodies for the rest of the season, and if you tried to buy using some of the lower minors depth, then AAA will still be a mess next year. If they are going to sell, Paxton and Kenley make sense to move, but their contracts mean you’ll get barely anything back. They’re going to end up trading Dalbec for a bag of balls or cash considerations, probably. numbers is probably right that they will do nothing, hopefully sneak into the playoffs, then let a bunch of contracts expire and look for free agents next year.

First day of the draft seemed to go well. I’ve always heard that drafting talent is better than drafting need, but yesterday they seemed to merge, since catcher is so thin for the Sox from top to bottom. Second round pick seemed more like a flier. I haven’t been following Day 2 very closely yet, but seems like a bunch of safe college guys, nothing flashy.

I say sell anything and everything. They can sweeten any deal by taking on money from another team. Like Hosmer last year.

Sox sends: Paxton & cash
Team X sends: prospect & salary dump player

Do that enough times and maybe they'll find something useful. Shit, just agree to take whomever from whomever as part of any 3-team deals.

This is the shit I expected Bloom to be good at. So far, I'm not impressed with his deadline work. Last year especially.

I do think you could get a decent return for either Paxton or Jansen, but the people acting like they would get something of value for Duvall and Turner are out to lunch.

Saw Story & Kluber tonight in Portland.

Mayer had an awesome triple in the first to score Story.

Story with a "monster" HR later.

Kluber was... good.

Good times.

Devasting.

Brain cancer sucks.

This guy brought it all the time, whether he was in the bullpen or a starter. Key contributor to all those WS championships. RIP.

I hesitate to mention you-know-who today, but one thing I wish with all my heart is that no one told Wake what was going on. He deserved to think it all unfolded according to his terms.
