I knew a guy in San Francisco whose grandparents rented Senior living condo and he lived there instead. He paid the rent which was like $800/month and all his coworkers were paying $3000 for a closet

That’s among the ballerest of baller moves. Buying or renting a house just for the school district address, but not actually living there.

Re: The Real Estate Thread: Buying/Selling/Tips/News
Well, after living in the mountains for 16 years, i think its time to move back to reality and begin a new phase of life. The decision hasn't been fully made, and if we do decide this, it'll be at least a year out.
However, me and the wife are really feeling its time to move towards family and our best of friends. Also a normal city, close to an airport, more sustainable/affordable living. Mountain life has worn on me. It's absurdly beautiful here and its going to kill me not to be able to walk out my front door and hike/ski a mountain.
But, we are really coming to terms with the lack of connection we have to this place outside of nature. Our friends here are acquaintances at best, we are tired of living away from family, of living in a place where everything costs 2-3x as much, lack of diversity (not necessarily a racial diversity, but a lack of diverse food/art/music/human thing). Everyone here is very one dimensional.
Been looking at homes back in Minneapolis/St Paul and we get so excited thinking about having more bedrooms, a basement, large yard....walking distance to a variety of entertainment/dining options, being able to pop over to my family's house for a grill out, be 10 minutes from an airport rather than 3-6 hours....
Been here 16 damn years and had the adventure of a life time, but i think its time to go home.

I have a deed restricted house and there are about 1,000 people in line ready to buy it so not worried about selling this for its max sale price, but am not looking forward to packing and moving and coordinating this closing with a closing in MN. Re: The Real Estate Thread: Buying/Selling/Tips/News
yeah, I get notifications weekly from agents that have people that want to buy our place..we have a good renter in there now that pays a dumb amount of money..its furnished with most of our stuff and I swear I would just sell it furnished so we wouldn't have to go through the whole packing stuff up again..Strat wrote:I have a deed restricted house and there are about 1,000 people in line ready to buy it so not worried about selling this for its max sale price, but am not looking forward to packing and moving and coordinating this closing with a closing in MN. Oh it’s happening. Move close to family, bigger house, closer to conveniences… she’s got you right where she wants you. This is how it goes down, pal. It’s going down right now and there’s nothing you can do.Strat wrote:lol. She's not.
