No one seems to be as (relatively) positive about Swallowed Whole as I am these days, but the guitar tones there stand out for me from other stuff on the album.

I think the challenge is that those tones need to be reaching out into wide spaces they can't quite fill, to capture the expansiveness of the song's intent, and it's not there.

This is maybe the only Pearl Jam album that I think sounds worse on headphones. When I listen on speakers the sound has a place to go.

That’s a good description of the difference

I do not like that song no. I hate the mix. I hate the acoustic guitar tone at the beginning. It could have been a great mix between Ed´s more Into The Wild style and Pearl Jam, and its not.

I blame mostly Brendan.

I mostly like that song, even the production doesn't turn me off. But the chorus just doesn't work for me - the rest of it is soaring and then it has a weirdly understated chorus.

Production aside, this might be my favourite song on LB.

i actually like that contrast a lot. the more whispered chorus and outro are my favorite parts, especially the inversion. how many of their songs have a loud to quiet dynamic like that?

the bridge of SW is pretty fantastic, the way the chords climb up into the next verse like that

I have to listen to this album alone because I wouldn't want somebody there thinking I'm enjoying it.

I only sampled a couple songs, but it actually sounds pretty great. I love Dolby Atmos.

This is a pretty big remix, like ST a few years ago. I'm hearing things I never heard before. The new mix has propelled this album into my top 3 (it was previously my most hated Pearl Jim album)

Has anyone ever picked up on the audio glitch on Swallowed Whole? (cd release)

Eddie sounds pretty awful on most of this album.

As far as I can tell: Lightning Bolt, Yield, No Code, Ten.

Yield is the only other one I've listened to, and it sounded fantastic.
