I would like that too, and once an album is announced and is a tangible thing I'll start getting anxious and impatient about it. But until then PJ is on hiatus for me. I am past the point of actively anticipating it until I know it is coming.

I think some of it just reflects where i am in my life right now. The last 20 months have basically been a long struggle to find time to do anything, and so things just happen when they happen. I am so pressed for time in my own life that it's easy for me to not have to worry about making space for things until they are here.

That's where I've been since about six months after Backspacer.

Word for word exactly my situation. Have you a 20month old too?

I only have time to listen to old favourites. I haven't discovered or even heard any new music in that time except I listened to RDNM once.

but i still think, though his heart might be with SG, and PJ might be in a bit of a creative slump or just lacking the motivation to be creative, they have never broken up, so that part makes me thing it would at least be a bit of a tough decision if he was made to choose
I'm pretty sure that Matt (and SG bandmembers aswell) stated in several interviews that SG will work around PJ's schedule and that PJ is his main band. Matt is very happy in PJ, and he was very proud of 'backspacer', which in his own words is the record he is the most proud of (alongside...superunknown and TOTD). The guy is not that much into heavy music (listen wellwater conspiracy!!). If forced to choose he'll go for PJ, luckily he doesn't have to...so he can do both :).

I've been around a lot of musicians in my life and I know that songs are hard to write, an album of new songs is even harder. PJ makes it look easy, but trust me people, they are not half finshed with this record. They only put out good material and that is a tough task. With that said, I have high expectations with the new album... I think it will be critically acclaimed, which hasn't happened since Vitalogy.

is that just a feeling or have you heard something most of us havent?

i think its going to be great when they get it done, but i always think that and am almost always happy for quite a while with the new music, the only exceptions are Binaural which i didnt like a lot of at first but with in a year or 2 it was up close to No Code and Yield, and Avocado which i loved at first like most then it went down hill quickly for me.

i would say every PJ album after Vitalogy was critically acclaimed (maybe not No Code) but specially Avocado and Backspacer.

Why not start with Yield then?

Critical acclaim where: charts, fan base, major mags?

Yeh I was referring to the music critics and radio, not the fan base. Yield is definitely liked oasisfan, I forgot to mention it. And yeh you are right vinylguy, avocado and backspacer were more liked by the critics than the fans maybe. Good call. The other three records, eh not so much.
