Getting ready to leave the party thrown for Mrs Wease’s grandmother. She turned 90 today. There were 7-8 siblings and they’ve only lost 2 (one about 2 months ago) and the rest of them were here.

smelled something weird under my kitchen sink today

thought might be a dead mouse

start looking around and see water and black funk

figure i have a clog or a leak

had noticed water wasnt draining as fast recently

the pipes underneath are PVC with screw-off ability so I undo the first one and the smell of poop + death emerges

inside the pipe is coated with half an inch of black death sludge

basically like residue of organic matter probably bacterial colony

just rancid death

jarring

i take the pipe piece outside and wash it with a hose

the shit that sprayed out stayed together like it was flesh

so gross

cleaned that one then did the other side's pipes

sprayed cleaner endlessly on everything like chemical weapons spray

took prob an hour to clean and re-attached everything and dispose of the hell waste

i never used draino before but if it kills this kind of shit i may start buying it and using it periodically

cleaning that stuff manually was life-altering

i have seen the face of hell

Been ill for three weeks now, but hope it’s nearly over now.

Had the last week off, and celebrated my birthday with my family in my home town on Monday.

I remember when I had mine, I just felt cleaner, way less bloated, and yeah a little lighter. It was a good feeling but not sure all the shitting was worth it to do it often.

Thank goodness. I should check on my earbuds. Hopefully they’re still left in my bag. I need to get wired ones - I’m not sure I like the wireless ones. They fall out when you fall asleep.

Wow, hope the ole guy survives Covid.

Visited my parents yesterday and I think my dad is losing it a little bit. He gave me the deed to his fathers burial plot. Grandpa was no slouch. I can’t even imagine what this plot is worth now.

?????

He gave me a bunch of other random junk too. So it’s just the burial plot deed is the odd one out (this visit).

a couple of months ago, I decided to try the beta version of iOS 17. It ended up being a disaster that slowed down my phone, along with a host of other issues. I had to reset my phone, download the previous OS completely...I didn't have a good backup (I know, I know)...install that, and practically start from scratch. I still had contacts from icloud, just not a good OS backup.

a few days after the reset I texted one of our friends who'd recently moved to the pacific northwest. he likes country music, so i sent him a link to a song by Zach Bryan, a country artist from Oklahoma who's been blowing up. i figured it was in his wheelhouse. the reply i received was, "who is this and why are you sending this to me?"

at first, i thought the reset had jacked with my contact, and the text went to him with my number only. i replied back who i was, and got no reply back.

fast forward to today. it's his birthday, and i had every intention of texting him. my wife even reminded me. i sent him a text, and about an hour later, i received, "I still don't know who you are and it's not my birthday. not sure you have the right person."

I was puzzled, so I said who i was...big old person move. then they followed up by sending me a long text explaining that they got a new phone number a few years ago, and it was my friend's old number, and they occasionally get texts meant for him.

i opened his contact, and saw that i had two phone numbers for him, and asked my wife if i had the correct one. I also sent her a screenshot of the replies i'd been getting, which cracked her up. she said, "you need to remove the number with our area code."

i have no idea why i had two numbers for him, but once i removed the wrong one, deleted the conversation i'd been having with the random person, and fired off a new text I was able to reach my friend and wish him happy birthday.

what a ride.
