Wasn't the bitch from 120 Minutes a Fox News pundit already anyway?

I assumed that's why Jammer called her a bitch.

Most likely, they'll find a way to let McHenry serve until the next election, and we'll have an unelected Speaker, third in line for the Presidency.

Heh, your post just inspired me to Google 'is Patrick McHenry in the presidential line of succession?' and the best answer anyone has is "it's not clear". (Not surprising based on every other time I've read about the line of succession law and its vagueness/foolishness).

So, the deaths of Biden and Harris would result in a constitutional crisis, too. McHenry and Patty Murray would sue each other to find out who gets to be President. And in the meantime, we'd have two Presidents. Or maybe no Presidents
Please consider voting for me

But a Republican speaker saved by Democrat votes would be dead in the water and fully incapable of anything resembling budget negotiations. It would be primary bait for most Republican representatives to even be seen working with him, after that. The difference in resulting dysfunction would be roughly zero.
Look at how conditioned you’ve become to congressional mediocrity. None of this makes sense.
What about it doesn't make sense? It seems like you want Democrats to act as if they're in a better world than the one that exists.
I want exactly this.
As do I.

The minute Dems vote for a Republican speaker, that candidate loses one or more Republican votes per Democrat vote. The idea that if they just played ball we could resolve this, is ridiculous.

Doubt, but only one way to find out.

B’s right. The House GOP is so intent on making the Democrats the villains they won’t support any kind of bipartisan anything

Disagree. If a bunch of Dems vote for Jordan today because we need a house speaker for continuity of government reasons, republicans would not switch mid vote.

I was imagining a real candidate. I wasn't imagining that you expected the Dems to vote for a sweaty, child-molesting insurrectionist.
