It's right up there with the Sekiro platinum as one of my proudest gaming accomplishments.

Yeah I never got close to a chud of fire and ice. Some of those Mario maker levels reminded me of this old Wii U game we used to play called Cloudberry Kingdom. The last 20 levels or so were impossible, yet people found a way to beat them. Final level of that in the spoiler:

There's already people in line at Nintendo NYC. 13 hours to go.

I likely won't play this until Saturday, but am very encouraged by all the positive reviews saying it is the best 2D Mario game since SMW.

Re: It's-a Me, Mario: A Mario Thread
I’ve done the first 5 worlds and am into the 6th. It definitely is a charming little game. I found the course with the platforms tied to the beat of the song to be the most challenging so far. Actually, it’s been the only real challenge, though I opened the “special world” and fucked off pretty quickly after dying a few times. I don’t really have time to play during the week so it’s going to be a bit before I wrap it up.
Despite growing up with the NES, 2d Mario has never been my favorite thing after part 2. I loved part 2 and kind of found 3 to be not what I wanted at that time in my life. I was more into Ninja Gaiden and Bionic Comnando. Then I didn’t play SNES until it was almost over. SM World was just a cursory play through for me. This new game is a fun distraction, but it just makes me wish for an Odyssey sequel.
I haven’t played New SMB or the Wii U title that was later released with Bowser’s Fury. Am I missing out?

New SMB was excellent. New SMB U wasn't as good, but it was still great.

This game is fantastic. It strikes in me a feeling I can't find the word for, but it's non-stop "wonder"ful. wink wink

Only completed the first world. Visually, it is so much better than the NSMB style.

New game is fun. I've only played it with my wife, who likes to take her time a lot more than I do (no time limit on a lot of these levels, so it is maddening). I'll play by myself as well, but I've enjoyed it a lot so far. I like the badges that you can switch between.

Re: It's-a Me, Mario: A Mario Thread
I understand. I haven't had the time to play by myself either. Had to share it with my snotty 5 year old since Saturday. I look forward to playing alone at work today.
The badge system is great. Completely changes the way you can play. I am in love with this game.

you earn badges throughout the game. you equip one badge before the start of each level. each badge grants a special ability or minor alteration to the level (such as extra blocks)i got bugs wrote:What's the badge system?
