Disagree. If a bunch of Dems vote for Jordan today because we need a house speaker for continuity of government reasons, republicans would not switch mid vote.

That's fair, but it wasnt McCarthy. It wasnt Scalise. It's not Jordan. Along side that you have to acknowledge that not voting someone into place that has serious and Constitutional impacts to both continuity of government and getting past the CR as we are teetering on the edge of a major conflict in the most dangerous part of the world while actively fighting a war in the second most dangerous... and we do this as our debt spirals out of control and our cities are being crushed under the influx of immigrants. This is NOT to say it's the blue team's fault, but we need the country to function and though it sucks, the minority maybe need to bend for the sake of putting the welfare of the citizens over the welfare of the party.

Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-Iowa) revealed she has received death threats after reversing her support for Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) on the second Speaker ballot Wednesday.
Miller-Meeks said she received “credible death threats” and a “barrage of threatening calls,” according to a statement posted to X, formerly known as Twitter.
She said her office is “cooperating fully” and the proper authorities have been notified.
Miller-Meeks was one of four Republicans to switch their support Wednesday after voting for Jordan on the first ballot.
“One thing I cannot stomach, or support is a bully,” she said. “I did not stand for bullies before I voted for Chairwoman Granger and when I voted for Speaker designaee Jordan, and I will not bend to bullies now.”
Miller-Meeks instead voted for Rep. Kay Granger (R-Texas), claiming the Texas Republican has demonstrated “great leadership” as chairwoman of the Appropriations Committee.

there are 221 republicans. there are 212 democrats. do you truly believe that the dems should fall in line with what the republicans want? if the gavel was in the other hand and the democrats were as fractured as the republicans are do you believe the republicans would say lets do whats best for the democrats and our country or do you think the republicans would say see, the dems cant even work within their own party and you think they will work with us?

We haven't had a functioning government in years, and when we did it's only function was to fuck us over more effectively. I could not care less about this, and you shouldn't waste an ounce of your brain power worrying about shutdowns or speakers. I assure you military contractors and other monstrous institutions will ensure that the government doesn't collapse. Go outside.

A majority of Representatives currently opposes Jim Jordan as Speaker. What you are proposing is that the majority bend to the will of the minority, because the minority refuses to compromise.
