I'm in this camp as well. I probably don't hate Future Days as much as a lot of you, but the gloss and the piano really kill it for me -- easy skip since it's at the end of the record.
As for River Cross -- I don't see how anybody could love Indifference and despise this one. In fact, I prefer RC.

I'm with you on both of those points
every time I hear that piano on FD it hurts me that I don't hate the potential of using keys; I do hate that it sounds like a shitty Casio keyboard instead of a proper, live, roomy piano (also that it's unnecessary and just smacks of a childish producer who needed to put his grubby fingers on the song)
they need Vessel of Sleep Token to show them how to put a piano on a song tastefully

Absolutely! Piano is amazing in the right context - BOB playing a toy piano "overture" on this tune is not it.
it's a legit five star song for me. Probably at this point the gigaton song I listen to the most (though that starting run of 4 is so good!) Eddie's best incarnation of this style of song. And some of my favorite lyrics on the album
and love not withstanding we are each of us fucked is such a great lyric and one of the few times that slightly awkward sentence structure helps emphasize the point
