alternate mixes/remasters

Post by stip »

Im getting a little lost in some of the conversations around new mixes/masters/formats (if the format sound different) so I thought starting a list might help

Alddo if Trag or someone qualified could drop in one iof those definitions posts that would be great.

There is a Ten remaster and remix from box set
Vs remaster from box set
Vitalogy remaster from box set
S/T remix on spotify

what else? would these atmos things count? are the vinyl’s changed in some way or same tracks played through a different delivery mechanism?

You can count atmos, but it's different. So is hi-res audio.

I believe all the current (last 10 years orso) re-releases of PJ records on vinyl are remastered for vinyl.

There are hi-res downloads for all except Backspacer and Lost Dogs. Not sure, but I think Atmos is only for Yield and now Vs coming up ?? Not sure, maybe Gigaton too?

hi-res can be found on several places. These are downloads. Hi-res streaming is on Tidal, Apple,....

https://www.qobuz.com/
https://www.hdtracks.com/

High-resolution audio (high-definition audio or HD audio) is a term for audio files with greater than 44.1 kHz sample rate or higher than 16-bit audio bit depth (standard CD). It commonly refers to 96 or 192 kHz sample rates. However, 44.1 kHz/24-bit, 48 kHz/24-bit and 88.2 kHz/24-bit recordings also exist that are labeled HD Audio.

Is there somewhere you can download the Atmos mixes, or are they only available to stream?

I am so happy that there is another of us whose phone feels it's owner uses the word 'yo' more than 'to' and so doesn't bother to auto-correct the typo.

I'm disappointed in myself as I always proof-read. I'm also not cool enough to use 'yo'on a daily basis.

Yeah those are all the same mix. Unlike Atmos a HD file is not a different mix. It's the standard mix presented at a higher bitrate.
