To me, the piano in In Hiding shows off the heavy production in Yield.
Not over produced and not bad but I find it notable.

Yield has a lot of production for sure, but it still has a wide, expansive sound.

When I say slick and glossy, I'm talking mostly about the tight compression on everything. There is no breathing room. Zero rough edges.

Yield sounds great, and i agree with the idea of a band jamming on their practice space. It was also a different approach than No Code, which felt a more muddied mix than we got before.

After listening to the new stones albums a lot, im kinda exited with whatever Watt could bring to these new sessions.

yield is perfect. it's an early spring morning where everything around you is waking up and starting to live again. the songs. the production. the "feel." everything. i love it.

"My favourite Pearl Jam songs were always the ones that kicked ass," says Watt. "Songs like Big Wave, Mind Your Manners, Never Destination and Let The Records Play. On this album, I'm encouraging the band to drop all the pussy experimental stuff and just absolutely rock out."

huh? Other than MYM, don't love the other B side type songs. Not a recipe for a good album.

Just that there's piano?

I don't think Yield is overproduced at all. It's a bit bright. There are some fun little production choices like the use of SFX in Wishlist, the self-sample in Push Me, Pull Me, the bass-that-sounds-like-a-tuba in ATY. They were having fun peppering some stuff in there, but it still sounds like a band playing off each other.

Piano is class. duh

My musical vocabulary leaves a lot to be desired. But the way piano was added to the song. The way it sounds. If everyone were playing live in a room at the same time it wouldn't sound like that.

You ID'ed some of the coolest moments. I think Yield is their most successfully-produced record.

Speaking of the self-sample -- where is it from?
I always thought it was by some other band, but it sounds like Ed's voice.
Which song goes "this world i see" or something? I don't know of one. I don't recognize the riff either.
