I appreciate a good style, but his style isn't for me. OK?!

I feel you here, tree. I'm not opposed to Mann's style as such, but generally speaking, he misses for me a lot.

Manhunter, however, is an abysmal movie. You never need to see it. Red Dragon isn't some kind of brilliant masterpiece or anything but it's fucking The Godfather next to Manhunter. Skip both, read the book.

I'm a super live and let live kinda person. It's fun to tease friends about their tastes and whatnot, but ultimately, I usually don't care what people like or dislike. I understand that tastes vary and it's all subjective.

But Manhunter is one of the few movies I can think of that I genuinely cannot understand people liking. It literally hurts my head to think about it. It's so clearly bad, to me. And CSI is so legitimately horrid in that movie. It's one of the worst performances I've ever seen from a successful actor. Whatever is good about the movie (and there are some things) is ruined by that inexcusable performance.

But even one of my best friends in this life, a guy whom I relate to more than almost anyone, a guy who shares my taste so thoroughly that it borders on creepy, even he loves Manhunter and wants to punch me every time I talk about how much the movie physically pains me. So....

I'm obviously wrong.

Still... fuck that movie.

I love Peterson's performance. Watching him in that movie I really felt like he was haunted by his past interactions with Lector (Hugh Dancy achieved the same thing but I felt nothing watching Ed Norton)

The scene in the diner where he's talking to his reflection in the glass gave me chills last time I watched it.

yeah, Petersen is very good on that one. Dancy too, but he had more time to flesh it out.

Manhunter is a comedy, right? If not, I might actually agree with Joe about Petersen's performance. I did like the movie overall, though.

You Were Never Really Here. Some fun moments, but pretty boring overall. Why is it that the movies that have so many long, drawn out shots of absolutely nothing happening are often widely considered grand works of art?

Epilogue is in agreement with you. Rethink your position based on this alone.

Started Manhunter. This guy's curly hair-do is really bothering me. Is it a perm?
