Re: What movies are you watching?
After Heat was mentioned a few times I decided to watch it again. Haven't seen it since the theatrical release.
It's good. But it isn't *that* good.
Some of the drama is pretty cringey (but it is almost 30 years old)

That's not an excuse. Plenty of great movies from that period and before.blueviper wrote:After Heat was mentioned a few times I decided to watch it again. Haven't seen it since the theatrical release.

Damn, that's an extremely random movie to throw on.

Re: What movies are you watching?
Last night I watched Last of the Mohicans with my parents. We rented the Definitive edition on Amazon and, while it was a great movie, there were a couple of night scenes where the video quality was atrocious. I thought it was maybe a problem with Amazon so I rented it on YouTube and it was the same. Really weird.
Anyway, Vudu has the theatrical cut so I'm going to watch that tonight and see how it looks.

We talk before and after. They talk a little during (mostly "where do I know that guy from") and sometimes I shh them (only if they're talking over dialogue)doug rr wrote:when you watch movies with your folks do you guys pause and talk about parts of it or wait to chat about it at the end?do you rewind a lot to get things you missed and make a 90 minute movie 2.5 hours?tommy wrote:Last night I watched Last of the Mohicans with my parents. Johnny Greenwood's score is standing out quite a bit this time. Also I'm paying super close attention to the dialogue, with subtitles, discovering some fun details I missed before. And I love the performances as much as ever, all of them.

I watched A League Of Their Own with my boys this week. Great movie. Of course their favorite takeaway from it is when Tom Hanks told the umpire he looks like a penis wearing a hat.

I have a co-worker whose daughter is on multiple select softball teams. I asked her about this because I'm genuinely curious, and she didn't really have an answer ... we surmised it is because the mound is closer to home plate and the ball gets there faster. So a 70mph softball pitch is the equivalent of a 100mph baseball pitch or whatever.
Anyway, my question: Throughout the game ALL throws from every fielding position are made OVERHAND. So why do the pitchers pitch underhand? Clearly the women can all throw overhand so why not pitch that way? Or why doesn't the shortstop throw it underhand to first base? That they throw it differently like this is bizarre to me.

There's no pitching overhand in softball!
