They’ll sell the alcohol but the crowd probably won’t be very big. Which means not much in tips. I’ve just been roped into a work related “retreat.” There’s nothing retreaty about it if I have to present in the morning and then lead a discussion in the afternoon. That’s work. Retreat means you RETREAT from work.

Re: Talk about your day thread
Been lagging at getting back into Jiu Jitsu after my operation - last night decided to pull a double. There were a couple of times where I thought I was about to be sent to Valhalla. Body is hurting in a lot of random places today.
After class I got on the bus to head to the train station - pretty full. As I got on a lass towards the back looked at me and went 'Hey you!' - I assumed I knew her from somewhere, but she was wearing a het and sunglasses so couldn't quite tell. I took a seat behind her - was trying to figure out where I knew her from. Turns out - I didn't know her - just a random crazy who spent the entire ride abusing everyone in our part of the bus. Problem was - due to our initial interaction everyone thought that we were friends

How about if you were riding public transportation to just stand in line for Pearl Jam merchandise? Would that change anything?pepperwhiteMFC wrote:I would rather ride public transportation than go to this retreat.

Re: Talk about your day thread
sigh
So it’s been just over two years since custody of our two nieces went from us back to their mom. A few months later, the oldest of the two turned 18 and she and her then 2-year-old moved out of mom’s house practically that day. Since then, she’s pretty much been hell on wheels. Living wherever she can for however long she can dragging Little Man behind her. Well, it’s finally caught up with her and she’s been in jail while at the same time losing custody of Little Man. The state has placed him with his dad. A person of which t here is nothing legally stating he’s the father. He’s not on the birth certificate and until last week had never seen him nor shown any interest in ever seeing him. Niece’s mom tried to get him placed with her but because they’re not a very smart bunch of people, niece put her address on the court paperwork as her mom’s and she can’t have him.
Now, we’ve had virtually no contact with them since they left. We’ve seen him once in these past two years. Spoken with the girls pretty much only when they’ve wanted something they couldn’t get out of anyone else. But Niece has been blowing up Mrs Wease’s phone since late last week ansking for advice on what to do. Well today she asked if it would be ok with us if she requested that Little Man be placed with us. We’re not really looking for another kid again, but really what other answer can we give but yes? We’ve always wanted what’s best for all three of them and honestly the place for him isn’t with a dad who just moved in with his girlfriend of two weeks who already has five kids of her own in the house that has never even wanted to see the child before last week. So while the chance is pretty slim they’d remove him from a parent to place home with someone else, we may very well have him coming back to live with us. We’ve been quite frank with her explaining that if the state decides that, that’s fine, but we’re of hiring a lawyer or doing any kind of “fighting” to get custody of him.
Stay tuned…

Re: Talk about your day thread
Jesus Christ, wease. That situation is a whole lot of fucked up. There are so many layers that it makes it difficult to decide on the best course of action. You’re a good dude with a big heart. if you guys did end up with temporary custody, any clue how long it would be? As someone without any sort of idea how I would deal with that situation, I’d just say be careful to not always be the last resort savior, so that you’re not stuck in a repeat pattern and you end up raising this child til he’s 18. Unless of course that’s not something you wouldn’t be opposed to.
