Sorry, it was rude of us to expand this topic onto the disturbing beliefs and practices of the left.

Good balanced read on what’s next. It’s not good.

‘With Hamas defeated, the strip will be cut loose from Israel and will presumably become the responsibility of the international community, perhaps including provision of power, water, food and other needs.’

Anders, thanks, and I will read that at some point. I do think there is often some missing context here in that we (Americans at least) tend to think of countries in that region as very old, but they are not. Most were established during the retreat of British and French rulers who took over after the defeat of the Ottoman empire which had occupied the region for several hundred years. I would guess people associate the ancient kingdoms referenced in the Bible and high school European history and assume those borders have always roughly been there without recognizing the power the Ottomans had over the region for centuries.

Modern borders:

Lebanon: 1943
Syria: April 1946
Jordan: May 1946
Israel: May 1948

All of these countries combined are roughly the size of Arizona and the people, having lived under Ottoman rule for centuries, and are all but indistinguishable .

Israel has just commenced its ground invasion of Gaza.

There will be innocent people slaughtered and then they’ll deny everything. As usual.

The graphic is more believable than the 2001 Bin Laden tunnel complex, but that's not saying much.

Gonna be fucked when Israel decides it's taken too many casualties, calls it quits and then this just repeats every couple years.

Seems like the US is pessimistic about Israel completing its stated aims.

They’ve cut off all internet and phone access in Gaza.

Can’t be a genocide if nobody can see any bodies.

Convenient.

After what Hamas did, a ground invasion was more or less a certainty. Hopefully it will be better for civilians than the bombing has been.

Hamas has done this before: https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/mi ... story.html

It get's even better (from 2014):

https://www.tabletmag.com/sections/news ... a-revealed

"The Israelis are so sure about the location of the Hamas bunker, however, not because they are trying to score propaganda points, or because it has been repeatedly mentioned in passing by Western reporters—but because they built it. Back in 1983, when Israel still ruled Gaza, they built a secure underground operating room and tunnel network beneath Shifa hospital—which is one among several reasons why Israeli security sources are so sure that there is a main Hamas command bunker in or around the large cement basement beneath the area of Building 2 of the Hospital, which reporters are obviously prohibited from entering."

Just on the news 24 US troops have been killed in strikes on bases in the last 2 weeks..

Surely that can’t be right can it?
