Re: Are you not going to watch the Oscars this year?
the globes noms are out and i kinda feel Barbie will win everything at the oscar. But Past Lives can emerge as an actual rival ( women director, foreign cast etc)
well see. Kinda feel Oppenheimer will only win the technical stuff (sound, montage) and Marty will be ignored as usual.

I hope not. Killers of the Flower Moon has really stayed with me. Honestly one of the best films I've ever seen.VinylGuy wrote:and Marty will be ignored as usual.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Re: Are you not going to watch the Oscars this year?
I haven’t seen it yet, but it seems to have done well with a 93 and a 98 on Rotten Tomatoes, 73 on Metascore, 7,4 on imdb, 3,6 on letterboxd (similar to a 7,2 on imdb). Earned back
its budget in a limited cinema run, despite mostly being a draw for streaming on Prime, where it has done really well.

Agreed. It's definitely political.tragabigzanda wrote:Air?! That movie was just bad, so half-baked, underwhelming, almost AI generated in its execution

Re: Are you not going to watch the Oscars this year?
Oddschecker has Oppenheimer as the likely drama winner, ahead of Killers Of The Flower Moon, with Past Lives a distant third, and the three remaining films on the same long odds.
In comedy/musical, Poor Things is the runaway favourite, ahead of Barbie and The Holdovers. Air with the worst odds of both categories.

Re: Are you not going to watch the Oscars this year?
Air is a very mediocre movie, just feels like a whole lot of nothing, but "poor lighting?" I thought it looked great, and sure enough it's a Robert Richardson movie. Cinematography and production design are probably the best things about it

Actually, you know what, I don't want to be in a conversation where I am defending anything about Air. It looks like shit and everybody involved in it should die
