Re: What movies are you watching?
I thought we only assigned nerdom to sci-fi/fantasy properties like Marvel and Star Wars

You aren't a movie nerd if you haven't seen Silence of the Lambs and Fargo several times and have at least 5 lines memorized from each. You just aren't.

I would never claim that mantle. I do respect our film nerd contingent though.

Frances McDormand's performance is an all-timer. Steve Buscemi and Peter Stormare are also excellent. Never been a fan of William H Macy, but he isn't terrible here.
The Minnesota accent might as well be the main character. It's so utterly ridiculous. I love it. Oh ya.
I also watched Convoy for the first time a few months ago.

A Haunting in Venice was fairly decent.
I enjoy Kenneth Branagh's Poirot, but these movies end up being pretty forgettable.

Sicario. Still a really good movie about the war on drugs, and the blurred lines between good and evil.
Should I watch the sequel? Different director so I doubt it's as good.

We watched the first three this week as well. First was the best, but the second had some scarier scenes. Third was a step below.Vitalogist wrote:Continuing the Halloween theme with Insidious.. love that series

The Groove Tube (1974)
This had some fun scenes. Uneven, but probably an inspiration for even better things to come.

Beyond the Black Rainbow
15 minutes of rather shallow story stretched to 2 and a half hours. That said, there is some great imagery in it. I basically skipped through most of it in 10 second increments.
