are these tiles your children, or do they possess child-like qualities?

My kid’s first midterm report was published today; sounds like she’s flourishing. Some proud tears as I read through it.

You ruined my joke.

Ugh.

A great go-to joke any time a kid does something good - ask their dad “who’s the father?” Easily my favorite joke but you can really only use it on someone once.

Our daughter is just a few months away from turning four. Feel like this is the time to fully move away from the last baby things. She doesn't want to give up a pacifier at night, and we still deliver her at kindergarten in her stroller. Think her development is going great though. A very happy and smart girl.

There is an eagle in me and a mockingbird . . . and the eagle flies among the Rocky Mountains of my dreams and fights among the Sierra crags of what I want . . . and the mockingbird warbles in the early forenoon before the dew is gone, warbles in the underbrush of my Chattanoogas of hope, gushes over the blue Ozark foothills of my wishes—And I got the eagle and the mockingbird from the wilderness.

O, I got a zoo, I got a menagerie, inside my ribs, under my bony head, under my red-valve heart—and I got something else: it is a man-child heart, a woman-child heart: it is a father and mother and lover: it came from God-Knows-Where: it is going to God-Knows-Where—For I am the keeper of the zoo: I say yes and no: I sing and kill and work: I am a pal of the world: I came from the wilderness.

Tell her the Binkie Fairy is coming in two weeks…

Note this requires she has some concept of time. If she’s not there yet, get a white board calendar and spend a month showing her in the morning what’s happening today, tomorrow, on Saturday, etc; keep it simple, like school day, family day, doctor visit, etc. Color coding the schedule is helpful.

Anyway, once she gets the idea about time, tell her the Binky Fairy is coming in two weeks, and that she’ll take her binkies away forever, but she’ll leave a special gift.

Then one night you toss her binkies and she wakes up with a new toy.

Someone gave us this advice and it worked like a charm. One day the pacifiers were done and she was totally fine with it, not a single request for a pacifier from then on.
Thank you. This is good advice. We will do something like this soon.

Our son was big on his pacifier as well. At Xmas when he was 3 and a half we convinced him to leave his dummy under the tree and Santa would give it to another kid that needed it and in replacement would leave a remote control monster truck.

He loved that toy Grave Digger and never fussed about a dummy again.

We used Santa as the binkie fairy. Cause we're cheap.
