he blew his knee out when he was still with Min and now he gets forever remembered for going over the wall on ortiz's hit.

Honestly, Hunter has been misplaying fly balls anywhere near the wall all season. He's actually been very bad defensively all season. If he did over run that and had a decent jump, he probably should of had that.

watching 100 times since both last night and this morning, i think he could have made the catch... not "should have," but certainly "could have."

I agree, it clearly wasn't a routine play, but he grossly overran that ball, like he almost did with the fly ball from Salty earlier in the game.

Really? That play was an indictment of the entire Tigers infield defense. Clearly Iglesias should have eaten it, but He was trying to make a play because injured cabrera has no side to side range, and Iglesias made an effort error... Prince made the saddest effort one has ever seen to try and get in front of it. I blame Prince more for that one.

Ill buy that, I mean the guys a 9 time gold glover nearing the end...
he was running full out and the ball was most likely, having come off a lefties bat... slicing back towards him... ontop of the low fence that you cant even see coming when youre already running on an odd angle towards the wall adds up to a tough catch... YES he COULD have made it... and he nearly did... but even if that hits his glove, who the hell knows if he holds onto it after crashing into the wall and falling over? and, Prince's pop up was 100000XXXXX easier even with the "fan interference" which, wasnt even that much lol get in there big man and MAKE THE CATCH... or at least... dont let the throw get by you lol... (I miss his bat and his clubhouse leadership... but I think I forgot how bad his D can be)

yup, MLB Network had a top 50 home run robbing catches of all time awhile ago... and i know the Mets one from oh 8 years ago in the playoffs? was in the top 3... was that Endy Chavez? Id have put Hunters ahead of that IF he made the catch...

It would have been interesting to see how the umps would have been able to make the out call if Hunter had caught the ball. After all, he disappeared over the fence, and they couldn't see whether he held onto the ball or not. I'm not sure that that play is reviewable either (but maybe I'm wrong).
