The FON outro always reminded me of the outro to Betterman. Similar vibe.

It's such a weird, bad opening for such a great song.

Bootleg sales would be through the roof because it would be their last ever show due to some band members being killed in the riot.

It's been 14 years. Has Ed shaken that thang yet?

Very underrated song.
It's one of the rare songs that immediately gets a second playing.

Best song on the album.
I listened to it quite a bit when my dad was in the hospital for those 4.5 months in 2021. Just picturing my mom sitting there in his room day in and day out. Very powerful message and delivery. A great song with some questionable production choices.

I recently listened a few songs after a long time. Some good stuff here, GSMF, Got Some, The Fixer and Johnny Guitar all remain very colorful, uplifting and fun songs. The band is tight and i love what Matt and Jeff specially do in every one of them. But i also see PJ trough the lens of the 80s post punk, which is something they were trying to achieve and they do here.

Then i skipped every song till Speed Of Sound, which is a personal favorite. Ed´s delivery is fucking A. I love the lyrics too.

I still enjoy this album. The band sounds like they had a fun making it especially on songs like Johnny Guitar, The Fixer, and Got Some. The only song I’m not too much into is Supersonic.

If there were some bsides from this era released to retrack the album and give it another perspective , then maybe backspacer would have a bit more substance for me, it’s very light and full of 2.5 star tracks

whenever I think "what's my favourite song on Backspacer?" the answer my brain continues to come up with is Speed of Sound; that's something I couldn't have predicted when it was released

Backspacer is probably the pearl jam album I have the hardest time internally ranking. Other than Supersonic clearly being at the bottom I like all the other songs. There are some like The End or Just Breathe that are not everyday listens but if they catch me in the right frame of mind are really powerful. And everything else falls comfortably in the really good to near great category, and all of them are quite listenable. It's not a challenging album (by design) but it's far from superficial.

Great record.
