I'm going to see the Holdovers this week. Anatomy of a Fall and The Marvels, too

Is Primal Fear worth watching? I don't really like Richard Gere (does anyone?) but I'm willing to set that aside if it's the goods.

I'd say, yes, it's absolutely worth watching. Love that flick

I'm actually struggling to get through it. Jake G is really bad in this.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

The opening scene where Jake and his squad are at the checkpoint becomes comical with all the nicknames being tossed around. I’m sure this is exactly how it goes in any unit, but comes off like a SNL skit onscreen.

I blame Ritchie’s direction. I get that they’re trying to establish Jake’s character as unflappable, but it goes too far. Everything he says is wooden.

I liked the dialogue and felt like some of it was a little clunky on purpose. Kind of a regular soldier guy grasping at something eloquent without being able to. Not quite McCarthy level writing or anything, but good enough.
Spoiler: show
I really liked Jake G in it as well. I liked the change from resigned and distant, to really pissed off.
It did drag a lot toward the end, though. It felt very padded. Ritchie is usually better at that.

I thought the same.

Also, none of you fart sniffers have so much as mentioned Dar Salim's performance as Ahmed. Guy nails it, bigly.

I like how, even when a good guy, Homelander has to be a jerk.
