Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I was hoping to one day start a thread where I explore the Ernest filmography, because I have never seen an Ernest movie and I have no idea what his deal is. I am imagining an Ed Grimley sort of thing

From a quick search it seems he's never been part of Hillsong. At least that's what he says. I don't know about the homophobia charge, is this about something specific or just related to the Hillsong charge?

While it is true that anybody under the age of 70 who belongs to a church can be assumed to be a weirdo, and we can’t really have this conversation without acknowledging that saying “God is real“ while accepting an MTV award is funny as hell, I don’t really think Chris Pratt thinks about anybody besides Chris Pratt enough to feel hate in that way.

But I will say that if he didn’t want people who feel marginalized to be skeptical about his honesty, then waiting until his second or third statement on the matter to finally say “I don’t attend that church,” and then trying to pretend that (actually) he isn’t all that religious….was not the way to do it.

His best case scenario here is that there was a misunderstanding about who he is as a person, and he was too fucking stupid to just say “THAT church? Hell no” right off the bat.

So as with most things Chris Pratt, one must consider the possibility that he’s just kind of stupid.

There’s a product/market for component. I can take Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt. It would be more difficult to take him as Harriett Tubman.
