seems kind of like you have to be an extremist in primaries but then a moderate in main elections

but you can't be a moderate at the start bc that does not appeal to the weirdos in your party who are losers and have enough free time to pay attention to primaries and go vote in them

Around the Civil War period, who had the most claim to Irish culture/ethnicity? The North or the South? Tough call.

Pakistan and Iran are deporting a few million Afghans.

I haven't seen a good explainer, but I am speculating that the UN or whoever changed the designation to Afghanistan no longer being at war, so their temporary protected status was revoked and they are no longer eligible for refugee status.

Surely the enlightened non colonizers of the region would see the justice in a DACA like resolution. Right?

Isn't his main income stream to give talks to Midwest cow colleges about how they are uniquely situated to benefit from XYZ? Telling people what they want to hear, what could go wrong?

It would be really funny if he had a Mandarin language account where he constantly told China that the US economy is about to collapse.

I'm sure the FBI has at least one agent assigned to the Confucius institute and other China backed orgs related to the welcoming committee. Right?

The idea that the typical anti semitic poast is from a white guy animated by white supremacy is suspect at best.

In the more common cases we see on the street, the ideology being expressed came from:
1) Nation of Islam and related
2) Antipathy brought in from their homeland and expressed by 2nd gen migrants
3) Oppressor/ oppressed analysis picking up on vibes from 1 & 2

This is kind of like #stopasianhate 2.0. Can't accurately depict the typical instigator as their identity places them inside the left coalition. Is this at all effective in reassuring the affected group? The message seems to be, "We see you, and support you, but have absolutely no intention of imposing a cost on the behavior that offends or harms you. We will try to shame third parties that have very little to do with this."

There was one going around yesterday about people tearing down those missing Israeli posters. The perpetrators? A couple of blonde, sorority looking, white girls.

I’m fascinated by this TV license and read some more at Wikipedia.

At age 75 you don’t need a tv license anymore

Is this license on top of a cable /service provider you would pay to get tv stations?

We used to have that kind of tv licence in Norway as well. I got my first one just a day or so after becoming a student, and having my own room in a student block. Guy knocked on my door, and told me he would sign me up to pay.

Thankfully they have gone away from that system, it's just an extra tax now of about $150 per year, that every adult pays. For a fairly small nation, we have plenty of other tv channels, and also all the international ones. But the license pays for NrK. An excellent broadcaster, that everyone gets, no matter what tv or system they choose. It also has the most popular radio stadions, even amongst kids and teens. They have close to no advertising (on tv, website or radio), and never any ad breaks.
