I’ve always been closer with my mom’s side (six brothers). They’re all very liberal and outspoken, which is fine but it has sometimes led to feuds. Very opinionated bunch. I keep out of all that to avoid conflict, and I’m not a bleeding heart type anyway.
thats my facebook uncle. i am by no means a trump fan but he was definitely the definition of TDS. he actually called my brother a nazi because he didnt condem trump (my brother leans conservative). it was then i decided i would distance myself from him
To keep things interesting, my older cousin on my mom’s liberal side has become very conservative and outspoken over the years. She operates a known conservative website in the area. She’s also nuts, and has been ostracized by the family. Every six months or so, she pings the family email chain to remind us that we’re all horrible people who put politics ahead of blood. This is usually sparked by someone in the family responding in opposition to one of her conservative Facebook posts. I read her ramblings then delete them and don’t think about them again til the next time.
Most people are basically somewhere within the “middle” 90%.
Spike’s family is in the extreme left 5% and extreme right 5%. Common denominator: Spike
In my entire extended family, there's only one person (uncle, mother's side) who even comes close to being difficult. He's a religious nut who tries to hijack every gathering with some good ol' God bothering. But we get along fine.

I think you should reach out to your brother in law.
And they say that a hero could save us
I'm not gonna stand here and wait
