Hmmm. I was there. I don’t know what you look like, but I didn’t see anyone notably fucked up. I did leave the moment Strat’s band stopped playing, though.

I had zero drinks at the Amsterdam that night. But my friend and I left and spent time on my patio where he got high and I had several drinks.

I drink every night. I’m an alcoholic, too. Just a different style. I go through 2 handles a week. I wake up just before 5 every morning, walk the dog, exercise, and go to work. I come home, lift weights, eat dinner, take my kids to sports, and then I have a few drinks while I watch tv and do crossword puzzles. I get through 2 handles weekly because I day drink through football on Sunday. I don’t get fucked up or drink so much that I have hangovers in the morning. I get to a point where sleep comes easy and I can write shit like this on the internet at 10 pm. I hope I don’t die because of it, but I also don’t want to live sober forever. I’m enjoying my life like this. I hope you can find a balance, Coach.

That wasn’t my intent. It was more like, you’re not alone. My experience has been that every time someone I know admits an addiction, everyone else, who is also struggling to a varying degree with an addiction of some kind themselves, says shit like, ‘Big of you to admit,” or “You can do this,” or what the fuck ever, and then they have their nightly toddy or joint or bowl of ice cream or wank to cuck porn. I hope Coach is well.

«A handle of liquor is a 1.75 L bottle of liquor. That means it too has 39 1.5-ounce shots in it. Doesn't matter if it's a handle of vodka, a handle of rum, or a handle of whiskey. A handle of alcohol is a different name for a 1.75 L alcohol bottle.»

I appreciate everyone's support.

The only solution for me is zero drinks. I drink again and I might not come back.

I quit for a looonnng ass time before and can do it again. I wish I had never picked up again. Bad move, but moving forward.

This kind of thread usually does inspire people to discuss their personal relationships with alcohol, and there is nothing necessarily wrong with that. Everyone is different, and you know you best. I know as well as most how tricky addiction is, and I'm super proud of you for doing the right thing, Coach. We want you around. Also, I hope you can cut down, daft twat; that's a lot of booze.
