I can't let this go... I don't understand how they got the feedback from Thor 4, and didn't course correct. Then Antman 3 came out, and still didn't course correct. And how many times was this delayed? And no one said anything? I can't imagine the bureaucracy at DISNEY is that bad. They must be doing it on purpose. Maybe the theory that they only care about getting the highest ESG score to impress Blackrock is true, or maybe they are just trying to humiliate someone or something. I need to know what is going on in those DISNEY board rooms.

WB can be explained away by their sheer incompetence and constant turnover I think. But besides Chapek leaving, there hasn't been a lot of turnover at Disney until recently.

WB movies look like a bunch of studio notes, trend following and focus group testing thrown together. Disney has its own unique brand of purpose built idiocy. They dont even seem to be reacting to external feedback at all.

Marvel had Victoria Alonso being fired last year. Also the FX situation. They crammed too much stuff in very little time, and in top of that Majors needs to be out of the franchise they were building. So they must be redoing stuff now and in the meantime of course they need to shows good numbers to their shareholders.

They probably knew this one was going to bomb a long time ago, when they change the premiere date and did reshootings.

I don't think Alonso had anything to do with the story quality and complete lack of direction for the last two phases, or the fact that they killed Star Wars as a theater experience. Hollywood pretty much killed the American FX industry, so they have to pay for that now. Even with too much content, which they are definitely not able to handle, that doesn't explain their inability to change course after a few years of pretty clear problems. It doesn't look like they've even tried.

Alonso sure had something do with it. She was a very important executive. In terms of Disney killing SW as a theater experience, i guess they wanted to really push Disney + as a streaming phenomenon and kill Netflix.

Well, he got the two biggest strikes in Hollywood story, so there is that. I dont think a job like his can have instant results. Im guessing we are still watching the leftovers of the old plan.

But i dont really know for sure. I kinda feel Disney + was not as big as they wanted to.

It's simple. People are tired of superhero stories. There's only so much you can do with them. Ebb and flow.
