Also worth reading on the historical part, which did not start in the 1940s:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_o ... _of_Israel

https://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/th ... -countries

"The position of the Jews was never secure, however, and changes in the political or social climate would often lead to persecution, violence and death."

Before oct 7th, there were 1600 Palestinian children under the age of 16, in Israeli prisons.
They’re arrested and brutalised by IDF pretty much on sight. They don’t even have to have done anything. Just unfortunate to be in the wrong place, wrong time.
So we know what at leads to.
So it’s up to Israel to break that cycle and step away completely and the only way I see that happening or working is to put the UN peacekeeping missions and troops on the ground.
Trouble is Israel has blocked that idea at several points and previously has shot at and killed UN troops

I know I have a bias but surely everyone can see who’s the problem in all this and creator of all their own shit
Israel has a huge responsibility, since they are the most powerful part in the conflict.

There are about two million muslims living peacefully in Israel (not including Palestinians). But from what I've heard, there is so much resentment in the Palestinian territories over what Israel is doing, that even a non settler, non military Jew can not live peacefully on Palestinian land. And of course the feeling towards the IDF is much stronger. So there will always be tension going both ways.

The current Israeli government is not a good one for peace either.

But for something to happen, to change in a positive direction, a major change has to happen. A leap towards peace, which brings both sides together.

It’s idealistic but it is possible. It just needs both sides to actually respect each other. But given the way both sides are indoctrinated to hate the other, from birth, it feels impossible.

That said. If we can do it in the north of Ireland, it can be done. Ours isn’t a perfect peace of paradise by no means. There still is an enmity on both sides.
But there’s no bombs going off or troops carrying out atrocities.
It can be done.
But ut. Eddie basic respect and human decency from both sides. And as you say. Israel the more powerful of the two sides.
They need to stop treating Palestinians like animals. Which they do.

I fully agree. Change is needed on both sides, and especially from the Israeli government. Change needs to start there.

You can't just force posts to move from one thread into another, Rudd. That's ethnic cleansing, it's a war crime!

Ruddo.

I’ve been posting links and clips of Israeli brutality in this thread back on the old rm and ever since on this new one.
So that’s over a decade or more.
And been called all sorts of shit for doing so. Unchecked by the mods may I say.

I’ll take this as a win.

I figured the headshot of the DC District Attorney would be helpful in predicting whether or not the protesters attacking cops at the DNC building would face charges, but this could go either way:

So, I'm wondering - for those who think that Israel shouldn't be relentlessly bombing and destroying Gaza, what would a better response from them have been after the events of Oct 7

Do the exact opposite of what that’s done.

Get into Gaza with proper aid lift the restrictions and do the fuck away with the prison terminal entry points in Gaza and West Bank release all the 1600 children they have in prison and countless thousands more (who are adults and in prison just for being Palestinian)
Move the dialogue to normal people and cut Hamas out and stop funding them and equivocating Palestinians with Hamas and yes netenyahu Fucking funded then and is responsible for all this now.

Other than that? Go back in time. Set up the Jewish state in Nebraska or Iowa or wherever it was it was originally meant to be and we would none of us have this slaughter right now
