I started Condor, but the sound wasn't working for some reason. I'll try again over the weekend. After that I started Daybreakers, but it was awful so I gave up.
Now I'm firing up Scanners.

The Creator

Sure, the story is super generic, and the acting is bang average, but I loved the aesthetic. It's like they mashed together Elysium + some Simon Stålenhag art books and dumped them in rural Asia. It looks and sounds incredible.

The Straight Story. It's on MUBI. Been forever. Very unusual for a Lynch film but what a beautiful movie

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

No Way Out playing in the background. I love this almost ridiculous movie

I watched that a few months ago. I really enjoyed it.

I could watch Gene Hackman do just about anything.

My mom loves it. If only she knew anything about the rest of his catalogue.

I was getting sick and had to leave The Creator around 45 minutes in…but it was a big disappointment already at work

I'd say it's pretty straight forward for a Lynch film. Which I guess makes it unusual? Either way, I love it. And that one scene, man... :heartbeat:

Barbie, finally

hilarious in several places, a self-aware joy, gets a bit "busy" for me but fuck it, never mind; it reminded me of late 90s / early noughts meta comedies like Austin Powers, but for girls

Billie Eilish's song slays me and by the end the movie's messages come together in a suitably moving way

It is unusual for a Lynch film in that it's straightforward
