Just popping in to say hey and wish you all the best, Coach. I’m a sober guy too (much different story, but still for reasons that are pretty personal). Godspeed in your journey.

Re: Coach update
Hey guys, thanks for all the words of support.
I completed the out patient program today and I am going back to work on Monday after a 7+ week absence. I'm excited to start work again. I am 44 days sober and participating a lot at AA meetings again. I truly like them and glad to be back.
I am still butt-hurt with my messy breakup with the ex GF (she won't talk to me, offer any closure), but I am dating a new chick now and I do like her. She is closer to my age, which I think will be a good thing.
I've also lost eight pounds (see weight loss thread) just from kicking booze to the curb. Feel and look great.

Also, closure comes from within. Dont search for it from your ex. Much love to you. Keep it up and hope to see you on the flipside again!

Thanks man, I appreciate that. If there's a tour, I'm thinking about Vegas, especially if they open it there.Strat wrote:Congrats coach, glad to hear it.Coach wrote:Hey guys, thanks for all the words of support.

Yes, I was sober for 13+ years before the relapse. I got away from meetings and became complacent in like year 6 or 7.tragabigzanda wrote:Nice work coach.
I know you were sober for a decade, but have you actually done the 12 steps before? FWIW, I like the 12&12 way more than the big book.

You and I do AA a little different, but of course, I respect your style.
I subscribe to the "buffet theory," where I take and use what I like about AA (meetings everyday, chairing meetings, getting phone numbers), but don't use every tool and method it has to offer.
I'm much more interested in the science behind addiction. When it is explained to me - for example, flooding your system w/ booze depletes the ability to make natural dopamine - it hits home and is motivating to stay sober.

Glad to hear of your progress coach.
Listen to strat. You can’t count on the ex for closure. If you wait on her, you’ll never get it.
