You don't get to pretend that the media as a whole is against Pearl Jam just because Pitchfork gave it a bad review. It's getting mixed reviews. A lot of people really like it.

No need to hide. They don't venture out too far, but what they do they do great. They are awesome.harmless wrote:Tool will be fine, they only ever had one style anyway *hides*

I haven't read through the thread but are people actually arguing this? Hmm...theplatypus wrote:You don't get to pretend that the media as a whole is against Pearl Jam just because Pitchfork gave it a bad review. It's getting mixed reviews. A lot of people really like it.

Sorta. Any time Pitchfork gives Pearl Jam a middling review, RM goes into a mini-crisis.Juvenal wrote:I haven't read through the thread but are people actually arguing this? I dont even get a "mixed review" vibe from it. They have all been mostly positive. What feels mixed about it is that some thinks its great and others just think its very good but not treading any new ground.

I don't even think it's a mini-crisis. I could be wrong, but I recall there being much more of a crisis of some degree over the Pitchfork review of Backspacer. I think people in here are taking this one much more in stride, not just because it's par for the course at this point, but also because this album is better, and we know it, and most feel more "secure" in our Pearl Jam fandom today than on that day in 2009.Juvenal wrote:It doesn't take muchtheplatypus wrote:Sorta. Considering what I have come to expect from Pitchfork, their LB review actually borders on the realm of "glowing"... Ha ha, I think I even detected a slight appreciation for these old fogey rockers! According to them, Backspacer is a way better album than Lightning Bolt?

Yea, it's 10. I think half of us would die of shock if they gave PJ a 5 out of 5.Dr. Van Nostrand wrote:what # do they go up to on their albums, i looked like they gave LB a 5, thats probably out of 10?bluestate wrote:Considering what I have come to expect from Pitchfork, their LB review actually borders on the realm of "glowing"... Why the fuck does anyone care about pitchfork? I can't honestly say I've ever looked at their site.

Re: Lightning Bolt: The Official Album Thread
It's not like anyone was deeply angry about the pitchfork review. It just caused some discussion. I don't think anyone really got worked up about it. I don't see the problem.
