Renfield - it was ok. I heard bad things about it but it's alright. I like that Dracula is just totally evil. No sympathetic bullshit. awkwafina is an atrocious actor.

Possibly one of the greatest films I've ever seen. The cast is bonkers. McDonagh is nothing short of a genius. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you might even poop. Unfuckingreal.

Brawl in Cell Block 99

It took me entirely too long to realize this was an intentionally shitty/exploitation-style film. For a while there I thought it was just regular shitty.

Some of the dialogue and sound effects are undeniably ridiculous. In one scene, one of the Latino drug runners yells something to the effect of "Get ready for 9/11 part 2!" before lobbing a grenade at a Police car. In another scene, Vaughn's character gets a fellow inmate in a sort of bear hug, and I guess he breaks his back or whatever. Typically, you'd expect a sort of cracking sound here, but instead it sounded like a bucket of entrails hitting concrete from a great height. Just... what the hell?

This movie doesn't give a single fuck. Vaughn was great though.

Both those movies are great. Seen Brawl in Cell Block 99 twice, and loved it both times. It's like a throwback to movies of the past, it's violent, but still has plenty of humour. The pacing, the structure of the story, the dialog, the action, all superb.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles

More charming than funny. Turns out all the things I thought were weird or underdeveloped about it (like the out-of-nowhere burglar who robs them in their hotel room, or Steve Martin's wife's bizarre behavior throughout the film) were explained and developed in subplots that were ultimately cut out of the movie.

John Candy was 36 years old in Planes, Trains & Automobiles, in case anyone else is interested in that kind of information (Steve Martin was 41)

It’s a shame John Candy never got a chance to do more dramatic roles, because you can see how strong of a dramatic actor he could be in certain scenes in that movie.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Always loved John Candy. Difficult to say what kind of career he would have gotten had he lived, probably something like what his closest colleagues have had. I only wish he was still around.

Watching Bumblebee. It’s a bit as expected. A Transformers film with more personality and humour. Story not top engaging though.
