I know zero about this gent and am not at all into country. If his (admittedly good) cover gets more of his down home crowd into the music of Tracy Chapman, all the better I say.

But it doesn’t get them into her music. They all think it’s his song and this song being sung by a middle class 30-something white boy does an injustice to Chapman and the conditions under which she wrote it.
