Finally watched "The Covenant" and loved it... Underrated/Overlooked perhaps?

I was pleasantly surprised by the action sequences too. Not usually a Guy Ritchie fan. I feel like if he cared more or something his movies could be so much better.Buby wrote:I had a couple of legit jump scares, I really liked the way they shot all the action sequences.tree_ wrote:I felt pretty good about it most of the way through, but it felt a little rushed or incomplete in the end, as a whole.Buby wrote:2023's been tougher for me to stay on top of every movie I want to watch.

Jacob Elordi is a good actor, very compelling. Barry Keoghan is also a good actor, and he has a beautiful body. But Saltburn is a mostly insufferable movie

Firing up The Sting. I've been dying to see this since I saw Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Different tonally. More earnest. And you should always make time for Paul Giamatti.tragabigzanda wrote:I only have so much room in my life for dramadies featuring an old/young literary white man odd couple pairings, set at bucolic private New England liberal arts colleges, so please just answer my question

I goddamn love Funny Farm. But I also haven't seen it in years. It may not hold up. But god I remember just loving the fuck out of that thing. Hating Chevy might actually work in your favor here, though. The character in the movie is a giant dick and I don't think you're supposed to "like" him. It's more of an "Almost Sunny" type comedy, where you're meant to find humor and joy in how shitty he is.tommy wrote:I thought about trying out Funny Farm, but I fucking hate Chevy Chase.

Tom Hanks stuck in the floor is still one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

Here’s a Candy that may be under the radar. Who’s Harry Crumb? We used to rent that over and over. I should probably add that to the “seen a dozen times” thread. So fucking funny.
