It's really the best album ever. I had chills listening to it again.

Re: Tom Waits
My Bone Machine arrives today (price was reduced on Amazon). I’ve been purposely avoiding listening to this record since the vinyl repress announcement so it’ll be a fresh listen turned up to 11.
I’ve gotta get FWY and Black Rider, too, but I’ll wait for the prices to go down a bit.

Here's the radio show with Iggy and Tom. I'm only about 20 minutes in: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m001st7l

Re: Tom Waits
i find it interesting that they name drop every other guest artist's band but it's just "guitarist" Stone Gossard. Do you think they don't know he's from Pearl Jam or what?contamination wrote:I'm sure you've already heard about this: https://www.nme.com/news/music/tom-wait ... al-3545265
"As for Iggy Pop, the punk icon released his latest studio album ‘Every Loser’ at the start of the year. The LP marked his 19th full-length studio release and featured a star-studded line-up of rock legends, including Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers, bassist Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses, Blink 182’s Travis Barker, guitarist Stone Gossard, former Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, Jane’s Addiction’s Dave Navarro and Eric Avery, and late Foo Fighter’s drummer Taylor Hawkins."

Yeah, they really missed an opportunity not using current Pearl Jam touring musician Josh Klinghoffer.Anders wrote:That is strange.

Re: Tom Waits
Yeah I noticed that too. I think most people have no idea who Stone Gossard is (which is why it was weird that they didn't mention Pearl Jam).
Anyways the radio show was kind of what I expected, lots of music trivia and songs I had never heard before, but the best part was obviously the dialog between Tom and Iggy. I just love hearing those two laughing and enjoying each others company. I spent most of the two hours with a grin on my face. Alex Chilton's Bangkok was an interesting choice from Tom. You can clearly hear the influence in Swordfishtrombones and Rain Dogs.

He's not dead
Been going through a TW rediscovery phase. Big Time is truly amazing, one of his best, but in desperate need of a remaster

Man, I love that -- thanks Strat.
Interestingly, there's a verse in there ("Jesus of Nazareth told Mike of the Weeds...") that was cut from the final version and later used in "Sins of the Father" on Real Gone. Love little windows into the creative process like that.

My favorite Tom Waits record is that thing he did with the Coen's in Ballad of Buster Scruggs wherein I spent most of it thinking he was Nick Nolte.

I noted the addition, but missed that it is in Sins of the Father. Get Behind the Mule is an all timer for me. Sins of the Father is not one I could recite.Kevin Davis wrote:Man, I love that -- thanks Strat.
