This is a lonely time of year to be an Apple Music user.

Isn't Apple Music doing a similar thing now?

Top Artists:
Taylor Swift
Dua Lipa
boygenius
Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit
Phoebe Bridgers
Top Songs:
Hold the Girl - Rina Sawayama
Wet Dream - Wet Leg
Silk Chiffon - Muna
The Hardest Cut - Spoon
Burning - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
I'm not totally surprised that my top songs are all from last year... however it's weird to me that Not Strong Enough by boygenius isn't there. That's the one song from 2023 that I was certain would be on the list.
Also really shocked that Jonelle Monae isn't on my top artists. Otherwise, it seems about right. The list is skewed a bit by the fact that I put on random Spotify playlists at work a lot and Taylor is on like every fucking playlist ever created. I didn't spend as much time listening to her records or seeking her out as an artist as this list implies. Take away the Spotify generated playlists and she's like #4 or 5.

Re: Post Random Music-Related Thoughts You Have
My wife uses a Google Puck in the bedroom to play Spotify when she goes to sleep. It totally fucks my Spotify results, although having said that I don't listen to much music through Spotify in the normal course of things anyway.
I do like that Marconi Union album "Weightless Transmissions" for sleeping myself though, too.
I honestly have zero idea who artists 3, 4 or 5 even are.

My LastFM stat's would be far more representative.

Re: Post Random Music-Related Thoughts You Have
Nah, pretty sure those are just some sleepy new age crapola stuff that Spotify has decided should be played after whatever meditations/rain sounds the wiffey throws on for snoozes. I really don't use Spotify that much (but my kids certainly do, hence the Premium Family sub).Bi_3 wrote:May want to change your password Higgs

Pretty stock outcome here, though I’m dubious I went that hard on Aphex Twin (?) this year:

NIN have never played "Where Is Everybody?" live.
Hard to believe tbh. Perhaps it's too demanding vocally? It's a top 5 song IMO.

Didn't realize Incubus cashed out:
I also don't believe I've ever read the phrase 'album consumption units' before.HarbourView Equity Partners has acquired the music publishing catalog of Incubus, the genre-bending rock band that has generated 12.4 million U.S. album consumption units since forming in 1991, according to Luminate. When non-U.S. sales are added in, the group has sold more than 23 million records, according to the announcement.
