Re: What movies are you watching?
I just listened to The Big Picture pod talk about Saltburn. Both Sean and Amanda disliked it overall. They do raise some interesting conversational points but I also feel like they missed the point from the jump. I need to read more from Emerald about what she intended. But so far, I see a lot of people trying to make the movie fit into categories that I'm not convinced it was aiming for.

I don't know anything about Saltburn other than it's a thriller and it stars Barry Keoghan. That's enough to interest me, but it will have to wait until after I see Dream Scenario.

I don't think it's fair to call it a "thriller." If that means anything.tommy wrote:I don't know anything about Saltburn other than it's a thriller and it stars Barry Keoghan. That's enough to interest me, but it will have to wait until after I see Dream Scenario.

I will say that one of the words being thrown around is "satire" and I wonder if that's fair. If Emerald uses that word, than fine, but it didn't feel like a satire to me, as such.

Kinda remember that one being the serious one. I still think 3 and 4 are the best..BurtReynolds wrote:Lethal Weapon 2

1 is more serious. This one is pretty silly at times, but takes a dark turn later. I think the series gets progressively silly as it goes.VinylGuy wrote:Kinda remember that one being the serious one. I still think 3 and 4 are the best..BurtReynolds wrote:Lethal Weapon 2

Despite the fact that Mel Gibson is a real life crazy person, it's hard to fully buy him as a "loose cannon" type. He looks too clean cut. Maybe it's the mullet.

I saw 2 in the theater, was a good one for that. Definitely agree with the last statement.BurtReynolds wrote:1 is more serious. This one is pretty silly at times, but takes a dark turn later. Watching Outland. I've never heard of it before, but it caught my eye while I was mindlessly scrolling.

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.
