As a fan, im actually really proud of this record after the last few shit years from the band.
im fully enjoying this. It is different. I get that some people aren't into later day PJ but this feels like a nice way to mature for the band. Sure, the stinkers on here can be pretty stinky and a few odd choices but overall this is great. The highs are are far higher than anything on the past 2-3 records...
I also like that my opinions have changed, better and worse, on tracks across the record. I think that is a good thing.
Stratty like.

I love Sirens and have since the very first listen. It's probably the best song on the record.lefty wrote:So you are actually going to listen to Sirens?harmless wrote:I think this is going to monumentally improve this thing, guys.harmless wrote:I'm listening through to my (hopefully) new and improved playlist, sans LTRP and FD. My reason why is that it does something new *and* does it fucking brilliantly, whether you're down with the style or not.Strat wrote:harmless wrote:I love Sirens and have since the very first listen. It seems that I'm one of the few here who really likes Sirens. I'm surprised myself.

I've stopped making excuses for LTRP and FD, but I'm taking Sirens to my grave.

I don't love LTRP - I'd put it in the bottom third - but it's a fun change of pace and comes off as far less cheesy to me than Si-ruhns.

Re: Lightning Bolt: The Official Album Thread
Guys, can anyone listening to the album check something for me?
On my CD copy, I can hear very, very faint drums in the background of the "Swallowed Whole" intro, before the actual drums come in. They're out of time and very distracting as they fall just in front of the beat of the guitar; they sound like a part of the drum track was turned seriously low in the mix but not actually deleted.
Can anyone hear that? It's before the actual first snare hit we're meant to be hearing comes in.

I just took a listen, and I hear it too. Can't say for sure what it is, though.

It's hi-hat, and then a snare comes in when Ed starts singing. It's bad. It wouldn't matter if it was in time.lefty wrote:I just took a listen, and I hear it too. Can't say for sure what it is, though.
