As the Mother of a mentally ill but also functioning (mostly) adult child with Borderline Personality Disorder who has a 10 yo old son, i can say without reservation that I am thrilled that he has a smart watch. He (my Grandson) used it just the other day to ask me to come and get him as his Mum was having a BPD episode and he needed to come stay with me. We have a deal that the watch must always be charged up and he is to let me know if he runs out of credit. Bless that 10yo resilient boy....

I think being a Scoutmaster has biased me. The other girls in the Scout Troop are badasses.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

My daughter has her first Scout camp this weekend. My wife was hoping I could go along as it'll be my daughter's first time away from us over night.....I can't go and I'm sure my girl will be sweet as, but my wife is freaking out

Hey Higgs, Cow Town is getting huge. I'm only there for work, Augusta is home.....
and yep, the grandson has dealt with some shit but we've managed to save him from the worst of it. He and his Mum are best friends and have an amazing relationship. Lucky I live around the corner and he's spent so much time with me that it's normal for him to stay with me. But fuck me, it's been a long, hard, bumpy ride

And mine too, on the regular. Try having a front row seat to that shitshow and keeping your daughter alive and your grandson shielded. BUT it's not always like that, sometimes we all lead a regular, quiet life and luckily we all adore each other and have a strong family unit around us.

A sister-in-law shot herself in the head, and my MIL is an even worse person now because of it, so you’re not alone having front seats to shit shows.

Grandparents are important! Glad he has you.

You're good Grandmother, Mother. Augusta is lovely, if a little prone to crazy winds on occasion. Houseboating on the Blackwood was a blast when we did it. I'm actively looking for a few acres down that way to sneak off and quietly retire to at some stage, but not sure we will go quite as far south as Augusta. But we will see, I absolutely want to get away from Perth to some peace and serenity sooner than later!

Catch you at PJ when they are here in November next year, yeah?

The kids that go on their first trip w/o parents end up being so independent and resilient. Your daughter is going to do great and make friends and impress you with how well she does.

My daughter after scouts last night was complaining of an upset stomach and junk - my wife's immediate reaction was to turn to me and say 'Maybe she's coming down with something and won't be able to go to camp' with this hopeful tone to her voice, and then last night before falling asleep told me that she feels sick about her going off by herself. It took every ounce of good judgement to not tell her to grow up

Augusta suits little old introverted me :) and I spend a huge amount of time near the water, if not in it because of the weather. Wouldn't bet on seeing me at PJ again. Have a blast if you go! Go well Higgs!
