by contrast, Ed’s hair had entered a very dry, frizzly, almost fro-ey phase

perhaps there is deeper symbolism to that than we ever realized

yin and yang

contrasting musical forces combining to form one balanced harmony

then eventually Ed saw Dave’s use of VO5 hot oil treatment as a step too far

and he had to remove him

Jeff's playing was actually respectable in that Go/Animal comp video

guy really knows how to rock the root note

if only Dave A had learned to become such a beta male he too would have remained in pearl jam

They need to polish up more boots from the Dave A touring era and add them to apple music

This is a pretty big remix, like ST a few years ago. I'm hearing things I never heard before. The new mix has propelled this album into my top 3 (it was previously my most hated Pearl Jim album)

Ed must have hated it during TV performances when the director took the Ed tight shot and Dave A could be seen over Ed’s shoulder stealing the show with that flow. See SNL ‘94.

There's only ever been one mix of Vs.

It may be pressed from the more recent remasters, though, based on my hearing.

Why does that need to be a double album? They’re not even putting any extra tracks on there.
It's 45rpm.
Is that supposed to be a higher quality sound? The faster the better? If not, why the change from 33 1/3 like normal LPs?
Correct, contingent on the source material. You can capture more samples by expanding the medium by, in this case, a factor of 1.35.

If you buy into the premise that the sound of a vinyl record is clearer and more natural -- capturing more of the dead spots and air in the room between the notes of the recording -- you'll love this pressing at 45 rpm. But I will say this year's previous Yield reissue at 45 rpm is a touch better.

I used to play a basketball game, probably Bulls vs. Blazers, and I would be listening to Vs., Go and Animal are of particular memory, and I used to be agitated that the music went faster than the game, as if the game couldn’t keep up with the band. That was a long long time ago.
