I didn't like all of the songs on Gigaton but at least t felt like an authentic Pearl Jam album, arguably the first one of its kind in years. It would've been interesting to see where that might've led.

why are people assuming that this won't be a logical extension of Gigaton? is it just because of a new producer or is there more?

Because we are not well adjusted adults so we need to trash it before hand so as to not be disappointed and deal with our own sense of nostalgic loss.

seriously though, I don't see "this is a complete abandonment of what worked about Gigaton!" anywhere in the news we've got so far

i can't really see how this new album will sound/be any good with watt producing/mixing it, this guy's "rock" track record speaks for itself.

we'll get betterman 2023, alive 2023, go 2023 etc... all of it sounding like sh*t just as it did for the rolling stones and iggy.

nothing revolutionary to expect here, just safe past rehash to bring big $$$, let's not forget this is a commercial enterprise first and foremost.

I hope I'm wrong but this is probably what we are in for, whether or not they are in the same room to make it.
