I loved the Earthlings album so I think I'll like the new PJ too.

This is where I’m at too. I love what I’m reading about Watt lighting fires under butts, getting them to play and compose together more, helping them play to their strengths, distilling down the elements to their unique strengths, etc. But if “heavy” ends up sounding like “Good and Evil” on Earthlings… barf.Farmer John wrote:Monkey_Driven wrote:That's where I am right now too.tragabigzanda wrote:I actually think the music could be very good, but it will undoubtedly sound like ass

I do too, mostly; it would be nice to have a slightly rawer version and no "The Haves" though, if I'm being pickyCoach wrote:I loved the Earthlings album so I think I'll like the new PJ too.

Ditto. "The Haves" is impossible to defend.Ms Harmless wrote:I do too, mostly; it would be nice to have a slightly rawer version and no "The Haves" though, if I'm being pickyCoach wrote:I loved the Earthlings album so I think I'll like the new PJ too.
That 3 track run with "Brother the Cloud" -> "Fallout Today" -> "The Dark" is pretty solid.
That and "Try" is definitely my favorite.

Re: 12th album rumors and speculation
While not a big fan of Gigaton. I will say that 1-3 are fantastic really brilliant. Alright and Buckle Up are the best sounding songs from a production standpoint. Gigaton's biggest flaw is when Ed's delivery is bad it derails a few songs with great potential River Cross and Quick Escape.
Earthling's production is not great from a sound place, however it's not offensive . I would guess Andrew pushed Ed on these songs and got alot out of him. My point being with out Andy may we get a much more predictable Earthling album. .
I think Jeff and Stone maybe could be the push back that is needed as far as sound goes. They probably haven't pushed back on Brendan in years.
We still don't know who the sound engineer is could be Josh Evans let's hope.

I don't know who this Serban Ghenea character is, but they need to be "taken care of".

He's the guy who most often mixes Wotman's projects, including Earthling.Farmer John wrote:I don't know who this Serban Ghenea character is, but they need to be "taken care of".

could make for a good live show, though, once they break free from Wotman's clutchesMonkey_Driven wrote:That's where I am right now too.tragabigzanda wrote:I actually think the music could be very good, but it will undoubtedly sound like ass

Probably Half Full was the last time a live version totally reframed the album track for me

Many of the S/T songs grew new legs live.

It's weird that the album version has no groove at all for me. It feels like it stutters and sounds a bit lifeless, and I used to always skip it.tragabigzanda wrote:Probably Half Full was the last time a live version totally reframed the album track for me
They absolutely nail it live, though. Those 2006 versions are killer, the highlight of the Paris gig for me.
Getting it in Budapest last year was a lovely surprise and it destroyed.
